Our Approach

Learning at The Bronx School of Hip Hop is project-based, with Hip Hop culture as the curriculum. Through the Five Elements, scholars master academics and CTE: Emceeing builds English Language Arts (ELA) and communication, DJing applies math and technology, Graffiti teaches design and literacy, Breaking explores science and health, and Knowledge drives critical thinking for college and career readiness.

Students Who Will Thrive Here

Students who thrive at The Bronx School of Hip Hop are creators, problem-solvers, and entrepreneurs who see their culture as a strength. They learn best through hands-on project-based learning, collaboration, and real-world challenges—using Hip Hop to sharpen their voice, master academics, and build pathways to college, careers, and entrepreneurship.

A Welcome From Our Principal

A Bronx-born educator shaped by the culture that raised him, Jason Reyes is the founding principal of The Bronx School of Hip Hop. Blending Hip Hop-inspired teaching, project-based learning, and Career and Technical Education (CTE), he is reimagining high school by creating pathways to college, careers, and entrepreneurship while honoring student voice, identity, and excellence.

OCT 1 THURS

Peace, BxSHH Families

Tomorrow night, the cypher gets bigger.

Virtual Back-to-School Night Thursday, October 1, 2026 4:30 PM on Zoom

Step inside the learning happening at the Bronx School of Hip Hop and hear directly from the educators working with your scholar every day.

We’ll begin together as one BxSHH community. Principal Reyes will share how teaching, learning, and grading work at our school, including our approach to mastery, growth, revision, and the different ways scholars show what they know.

Then you’ll meet your scholar’s teachers and learn about:

What scholars are currently learning
Course expectations and syllabi
How learning and grading look in each class
Projects, assignments, and assessments
Where scholars are headed next
How families can support success at home

We’re only one month into our founding year, and history is already being written. Our scholars can’t build it without the people who know and love them most.

You are part of this school. You are part of this culture. You are part of this cypher.

The Bronx gave the world Hip Hop. Together, we’re building what comes next.

Peace & Love,Jason Reyes, Principal
